Speed Scrabble
I forgot how much i love Speed Scrabble. Spent most of last night trying to remember the rules. Here's what we came up with...
1. Speed Scrabble is played with out the actual Scrabble board. It uses just the tiles.
2. Each player gets seven tiles (all tiles are placed facing down in the center of the table.)
3. One player says "Go" then each player turns over their seven tiles and tries to form words in front of them. (You will have your own scrabble layout in front of you) So say your letters are C T A F R O N So you could spell FRONT and then using the T spelling CAT (you can spell more then one word a turn, hence the speed part)
Here's the fun part
4. The first person to use all seven letters yells GO
5. Each person then grabs two more letters and continues to spell words on their own scrabble set up.
6. This continues until all letters are used once the last letter is used in a word the game suddenly stops. Everyone adds up their letters and subtracts any letters they have left over.
*tip sometimes the game will get stuck once that happens everyone verbally agrees to take two letters and the game continues. For additional tips wiki speed scrabble.

Speed Scrabble and Pizza
"Who wants to play speed scrabble?" My friend asked.
Me and another friend look at her quizzically. The main question was how do you play? Easy 7 letters try to make your own grid using those letters, if you can you say pick two until almost all the tiles are gone and you can make a scrabble grid, then you win. I won one and fell in love with the game.
But the night was originally about pizza. I had all the ingredients and no house to throw the celebration. Luckily a friend offered her home and there began our pizza party.
We tried watching the debate, but we all huddled in the kitchen to make the pizza. My friend had made Giada De Laurentiis dough, which was funny cause it's the dough I usually make. I didn't know which dough she had made until she started to say the ingredients and said the recipe. We both had a good laugh.
I sauteed some sausage and had a great aged provolone from Whole Foods. It was spectacular. Perfectly aged. If only I can get some more for under $5. (The Whole Foods in Alabama has a little tray of extra cheeses for under $5, which is perfect if you love cheese or just are a big foodie.) So that went with tomato sauce, red onion, and sausage. It turned out to be the BIG hit of the evening.
The other pizza of course was veggie. I had some sun-dried tomatoes and goat cheese, which we paired with pesto and spinach to make a really good pizza. Of course, there were leftovers of that.
The main question was what to do with the leftover dough? My two friends sprung to the idea of cinnamon sugar balls. So they rolled the dough into balls, covered in milk, and sprinkled with sugar and cinnamon.
They were the baked until golden brown. They were delicious and quickly devoured by the three of us. I'll keep the idea for my next pizza party.

Speed Scrabble & Boyd's Bowhunting
I played a game that I enjoyed the other night. Speed Scrabble. The way I know I enjoyed it was that I lasted more than two rounds--ha! That doesn't happen with many board games and me. Fun game.
Each person starts with 7 pieces, someone says "go", and you turn the pieces over. From there, the first to use all 7 pieces in forming words then says "go" and alerts everyone to take a piece from the pile. You keep going until all pieces are gone from the pile. Then, the first person to have all their pieces used in words wins. Fun game. Makes you think.
Monday night I went to Boyd Guyman's home. Boyd is a good fishing friend of Pop and I. At Trish's wedding reception I found out that he used to be big into archery. One of my goals, or interests, has been bowhunting. So, I asked Boyd at the reception if he wouldn't mind sharing the tricks of the trade with me. I finally took him up on it this week. Real good.
I don't necessarily want to bowhunt animals, but would like to get a target and set it up in the backyard. I need to check out deals going on at Cabelas. Boyd gave me good insights into what I need and should look at getting. Shooting a bow and arrow is fun.
I remember shooting carp with Karl and Travis (my uncle and cousin) in Idaho when I was a boy....had a blast. I may want to get into carp bowhunting.

take or speed scrabble and ministry
Take or as it is sometimes called speed scrabble is a game using the scrabble tiles, but not the scabble board. Everyone starts with the usual 7 tiles, but in take, everyone plays with just their own tiles, and at the same time.
When you use all your tiles, you call take and everyone takes an additional tile. Sometimes you are picking up pieces very rapidly while changing your arrangement of tiles.
I think this is a good picture of what ministry is often like.
We would prefer the systems and order of a scabble game, but it is much more like take. Just when we think we have things all figured out... things change.
